Lunch at Smoke Resto

Ps: The local food does not looks good but it does taste good.

For those who are looking for home-style meals and budget friendly-food. Smoke Resto is the ideal place, as it offers a simple menu that highlights local comfort food. Do not leave the restaurant without trying its bulalo, which has won the Best Bulalo award in 2011 in Unilever's So Pinoy website!

5D4N Boracay Island Relaxing Trip - Day 1

Really can't wait to introduce this beautiful paradise, White Beach - Boracay to everyone.

Before that, here is the Checklist for things to bring

1) Sunblock (you do not want to get sunburn)
2) Swimwear (ladies, bring all your bikinis!!)
3) Swimming goggles
4) Sunglasses
5) Hats
6) Umbrella ( in case for bad weather)
7) Water proof camera / Camera / Handphone (for all water activities e.g. helmet diving, snorkelling, scuba diving..)
8) Travel adapter and charges (for handphone & camera)

There are direct flights from Singapore to Kalibo (Boracay) with Tigerair and silk air.

Direct Flight : SIN-KLO (3h40min), Kalibo-Caticlan Port (2hr), Port-Boracay (15min), Boracay-Resort (15min) = 6 hrs 10 min

Here we are at Kalibo airport

Queueing at Kalibo (Boracay) Airport Immigration

There are hotels and resorts provide transportation service from airport to resort. Request from hotel upon reservation.

After immigration check point, there are many local tour operators who offer bus and boat trip transfer from airport to resort. Do approach them if your hotel does not provide any transportation transfer.

We have decided to approach Southwest Tours, PHP 1,050 per pax - Roundtrip bus and boat from Kalibo airport to resort. (Addition PHP 50 per pax for Fairways and Bluewater Newcoast Boracay due to the location of the resort - Refer to Boracay map below)

For more information, visit http://www.southwesttoursboracay.com
Alternatively, visit http://www.myboracayguide.com/transportation-kalibo-to-boracay

Some other local tour operators offer very attractive price for transportation (can be PHP 500 or less or even lower than that), do remember to check with them if the price include boat transfer and other terminal fees.

Jamie's advice: BUY some snacks/ drinks for the 2 hours bus ride. Approximately PHP 200. Alternatively you can wait till 1 hour later at the rest area.

10 minutes toilet break at Southwest Ibajay rest area after an hour drive from airport.

Jamie's advice: Please remember to leave some small changes PHP 10 or PHP 20 notes. You will need to pay tips for the over-friendly helper who carry your luggage for you.

Me and hubby

One thing I have realised is the local people are exceptionally friendly! They give their warmest welcome along our bus ride by waving at you by saying that 'WELCOME TO BORACAY, PHILIPPINES!

After long journey of flight, bus and boat, finally we are here at our resort!!

Map of Boracay Island, Philippines

Fairways and Bluewater is located at the end of station 1.

Many of the most luxurious Boracay hotels are located on Station 1. This is because the beach is widest and the sand is finest. Station 1 is a very nice and quiet, the perfect place for relaxation.

Station 2 is at the heart of it all. This is the shopping and dining centre of Boracay Island and the most happening place. Staying in a Boracay hotel in Station 2 affords one the maximum in convenience.

Station 3 is the sleepiest part of the beach and is the perfect place to go if you want to avoid the crowds. The Boracay hotels here are mostly on the budget end but a few of the newer hotels are targeting the high-end market.

It is a walking distance between the stations. If you are lazy to walk, you can just get on the 'tuk tuk' which is public transport in the Island. Per trip should cost around PHP 50 - PHP 100 (may bargain with the driver)
